The Maintenance Technician for our community supports the Maintenance Director to assure proper, consistent maintenance of our community including building interior and exterior, grounds, walkways, driveways, and parking lot.
Essential functions of the job are:
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair work independently as instructed or assist other skilled trade personnel to maintain facilities and grounds in proper condition. This includes plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and appliance repairs.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting; apply finishes and coverings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment as necessary.
  • Completes the make-ready process to prepare vacant apartment homes for leasing and new move- ins.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on doorknobs, locks, hinges, closures, strike plates and panic bars.
  • Operate a variety of maintenance equipment and machines including hand and power tools.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define and correct problems.
  • Respond courteously to questions and requests and stay calm when addressing and resolving customer issues or complaints.
  • Complete residents service requests in within 24-hour period.
  • Maintain, clean, and organize compactor enclosure, including deodorizing and pressure washing as needed or directed by manager.
  • Assists in maintaining the grounds, common areas, and amenities by picking up trash and debris, blowing off sidewalk, pressure-washing areas, performing general cleaning, and painting curbs and as needed.
  • Property Emergencies responsible for emergencies that may arise outside of normal business hours flood, fire, power loss, etc.
Some additional functions:
  • Listens effectively and provides clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written information including all relevant documentation.
  • Proficiency in customer service and interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively interact with residents, family members, visitors, contractors, and team members.
  • Maintains a professional image to residents and fellow co-workers, in words, actions, and appearance.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy of our residents and staff at all times.
  • Consistently reports to work on time and completes scheduled shifts.

Schedule Available: Sunday-Thursday 7:00am-3:30pm

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in maintenance, construction, or similar role
  • 2-3 years of Maintenance Skills in a residential or commercial setting.
  • Experience with any of the following: electrical, plumbing, or HVAC (certification not required for this role)
  • Ability to maintain and perform basic repairs on appliances including refrigerators, washers and dryers.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and oral drug screen.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize assignments.
Typical physical and environmental considerations:
  • Maintain ability to lift 75 pounds; to stand or walk throughout the vast majority of the work day, and to frequently push, pull, bend, twist, and reach
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/handle items
