INTRODUCTION
Position Title:                Caregiver
Supervisor’s Title:         Resident Services Coordinator
Department:                  Health Services
Reporting Positions:     None
Exempt Status:             Hourly
Shift available:              Swing 2.00 pm - 10.15 pm (4 days on – 2 days off)
Pay rate:                       $16.50 - $20.00

The position and responsibilities you are assuming are Caregiver for our community.  Your position is critical to the comfort and satisfaction of our residents. Your responsibilities are to provide prompt, friendly, and professional service that meets the needs of our residents.  Services should be delivered in a caring manner, which maximizes the resident’s independence, choices, dignity, privacy, and individuality.
Responsabilites
  1. Supports residents with completion of activities of daily living as indicated in their service plans.
  2. Answer pages and call lights immediately.
  3. Positively supports residents with emotional and behavioral issues.
  4. Supports resident activity participation by assisting residents to/from activities, encouraging participation, and leading activities when asked.
  5. Assists in the development and revision of Service Plans by informing the supervisor of current resident needs and preferences as well as successful service approaches.
  6. Observes and reports resident concerns or problems and reports such problems to the supervisor.
  7. Reads Communication Log and Shift Report at the beginning of each shift, and enters pertinent information in Communication Log and Shift Report by the end of each shift.
  8. Performs housekeeping duties as indicated on the cleaning schedule or assignment sheets.
  9. Performs food service responsibilities, including but not limited to serving meals, delivering meals trays to apartments, bussing tables, cleaning the dining room after meals, and setting tables.

  • Listens effectively and provides clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written information, including all relevant documentation 
  • Cooperates with others to effectively and efficiently achieve goals and resolve problems
  • Maintains a professional image to residents and co-workers, in words, actions, and appearance
  • Adheres to the community dress policy
  • Maintains the confidentiality and privacy of our residents and staff at all times
  • Meets the needs and wishes of customers (residents, staff, and families) appropriately by being prompt, polite, professional, and personal
  • Makes the best decision based on information while resisting the influence of peer pressure and emotions
  • Consistently reports to work on time and completes scheduled shifts
  • Adaptable and willing to change to ensure success
  • Completes all assigned duties efficiently and accurately
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the RN and Health Services Administrator
  • Notifies supervisors of any needed supplies.
  • Attends education and training classes, as necessary to fulfill state and company regulations 
Responsabilites
  • Maintain current CPR and first aid certification.
  • AL & MC regulations knowledge
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • A genuine love for seniors and a willingness to learn
  • Previous caregiving experience is a plus, but not required
TYPICAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Physical Demands and Requirements
  • Maintain the ability to lift 50 pounds; to stand or walk throughout the vast majority of the work day; and to frequently push, pull, bend, twist, and reach
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/handle items.
  • Must also be able to walk throughout campus frequently for extended periods.  (Up to five hours)
  • Involves light to heavy physical activity, performing non-strenuous and strenuous daily activities.
Typical Environmental Conditions
  • May be exposed to biohazardous materials, including, but not limited to, blood and body fluids, sharps exposure, animal dander, and latex.
