The Springs at The Waterfront is situated along the southern facing Vancouver riverfront and will provide approximately 250 private residences for those 62 and older. This state-of-the-art, 12-story senior living community will offer a variety of floor plans that feature stunning views. Interior spaces are warm and inviting, featuring high-end amenities and services suitable to an urban setting, including secure underground parking. Job Description:
The Springs at The Waterfront is building a team of talented individuals to provide 5-star service. The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing and creating a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods for the community. This role involves recipe development, baking, plating, and ensuring high-quality standards in every dish. The Pastry Chef works closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth operations and contributes to the overall success of the dining experience. Enjoy a great a work-life balance with no late nights and a consistent schedule. We offer residents and guests multiple dining venues in an up-scale environment, with award-winning cuisine, and genuine hospitality. Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new dessert and pastry menus.
  • Experiment with flavors, textures, and presentation to create innovative and appealing pastries and desserts.
  • Ensure the use of high-quality ingredients to achieve exceptional taste and presentation.
  • Prepare yeast and laminated dough, quick bread, and pâte à choux.
  • Bake cakes, sponges, meringues, dacquoise, mousse, cookies, breads, pastries, tarts, and other items in large quantities. 
  • Ensure all products are prepared according to recipes, specifications, and hygiene standards.
  • Knowledge of pastries production (sweet and savory). 
  • Prepare a variety of buttercream, ganache, glazes, curds, pastry cream, and coulis.
  • Prepares products adhering to all portion control and special dietary guidelines.
  • Assures food is stored correctly, adhering to all related guidelines.
  • Assures kitchen is cleaned after meals, including but not limited to pots and pans, all surfaces, and the floor.
  • Performs all cleaning tasks according to cleaning schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Patisserie & Baking.
  • A minimum of 5 years proven experience as a Professional Pastry Chef in high volume hotels/resorts.
  • Expertise in pastry preparation, baking techniques, and dessert presentation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen safety.
  • Creative, attention to detail and aesthetic presentation.
  • Passion for quality service and creating special moments for residents. 
  • Team player.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and criminal background check.

Salary:
The Springs Living provides a competitive compensation package for the Line Cook position, with an hourly wage range of $22-$28 depending on experience.
